Are you ready for the Dubai Contractor Register?

Nine questions, two minutes. You get a checklist of what to fix before the deadline. Free, and nothing to sign up for to see your result.

The short answer

Under Dubai Law No. 7 of 2025, every contractor working in Dubai must hold a valid licence and be registered and classified on Dubai Municipality's Contractors' Register. Existing contractors have until 8 January 2027 to comply. This checker asks nine questions about your licence, registration, classification, staff certificates, subcontractors, insurance and finished work, then lists what to prepare. It is a guide, not an official check.

72 days to the Dubai Contractor Register deadline,
1. Do you hold a valid Dubai trade licence that includes contracting activities?

Mainland (DET) or a Dubai free zone. The law applies in both.

2. Do your licensed activities cover every type of work you take on?

For example fit-out, MEP, pools or waterproofing.

3. Have you applied to Dubai Municipality's Contractors' Register?

Applications go through the Dubai Municipality platform linked to Invest in Dubai.

4. Has your classification been issued?

Classification is based on technical, financial and administrative capability, and decides which projects you may take on.

5. Do your engineers and technicians hold Dubai Municipality Professional Competency Certificates (PCC)?

Contractors must employ a minimum number of certified technical staff.

6. If you use subcontractors, is each one registered, and is each appointment approved?

Choose "We do not subcontract" if it does not apply.

7. Do you hold current third-party liability insurance?

The policy should be in the licensed company name and cover the work you do.

8. Do you hold workers' compensation or employer's liability cover for site staff?

A current certificate for the staff who work on site.

9. Can you show 2 jobs you finished in the UAE in the last 24 months, with a client willing to confirm each?

Photos, the area and month, and a client who agrees to take a short call.

Where the questions come from

The questions follow the obligations in Law No. 7 of 2025 as summarised by the law firms below, plus the insurance checks in the SoukLocal Verified standard. For the full picture, read our Dubai Contractor Register guide.

Questions

Is this an official Dubai Municipality check?

No. SoukLocal is not a government service and does not register contractors. This checker helps you see what to prepare. Registration and classification are done by Dubai Municipality.

What happens after 8 January 2027?

Existing contractors had until 8 January 2027 to comply with Law No. 7 of 2025. Clients may not engage contractors that are not registered and classified, and fines run from AED 1,000 to AED 100,000, rising to AED 200,000 for repeat offences. The deadline can be extended.

Do you store my answers?

Your answers stay in your browser. We only count that the checker was completed, with no answers attached. If you create a business account, you upload documents there yourself.

Why does SoukLocal offer this for free?

The documents you need for the Register are close to the ones SoukLocal checks for its Verified badge. Businesses that get ready can list free during the founding period, and homeowners get a list of contractors they can trust.
