Demolition: protect first, isolate services, take debris legally
Demolition is where homes get damaged and neighbours complain. It is also where hidden problems appear, so record them before they disappear again.
- NOCcommunity approval before any demolitionGood practice
- Isolatedpower and water off in the area, checked safeGood practice
- Licensedconstruction waste transporter, covered loadsPublished standard
- Photosof the existing condition before work startsGood practice
Before demolition, get the community approval, record the existing condition with photos, and protect floors, doors, lifts and common areas. Services in the area must be isolated by a qualified person. Debris should be bagged as work goes, kept in covered, labelled containers and collected by a transporter licensed for construction waste to a Dubai Municipality facility.
Why check before it is covered. Damage to floors you are keeping, a cut cable or pipe, or a fine for dumped debris all cost more than the demolition itself.
